Deep Cut Liposuction Cannulas in German Stainless Steel
Releasing a heavily scarred field with a short dissecting edge means many small passes. An extended edge divides along its whole length instead, which is why this instrument exists: fewer strokes through the same tissue, at the cost of demanding more control from the surgeon.
What a Deep Cut Edge Does
A deep cut liposuction cannula carries a sharpened cutting edge that runs further along the working section than a standard dissector edge. It is a release instrument: it divides fibrous tissue rather than aspirating around it.
The length of the edge is the whole point. A short dissecting edge cuts one band at a time, so releasing a heavily scarred field means many small deliberate passes. An extended edge divides along its whole run, so a broad sheet of septa or a wide band of scar comes apart in fewer strokes. In secondary cases and dense gynaecomastia tissue that is the difference between a manageable release and a long one.
The same length is why it demands more control than any other instrument in the range. A longer edge means more cutting surface in contact with tissue at once, and a sharpened edge does not distinguish between a fibrous band and a vessel, a nerve or the dermis. It is used in the deep plane only, with the edge oriented away from the skin, advanced deliberately rather than pushed, and put down as soon as the release is achieved.
The edge is the instrument. Once it is dulled or nicked it tears tissue instead of dividing it, which is worse than a blunt cannula rather than better. This is a release instrument rather than a contouring one, so size follows the tissue being divided rather than the volume being removed. The 3.0mm to 4.0mm diameters in 25cm to 35cm cover most broad fibrous release in body areas. The 2.0mm to 2.5mm range in 15cm to 25cm suits smaller and more defined bands. Whichever size you choose, it is used in the deep plane with the cutting edge oriented away from the skin, and put down once the release is achieved. Material and Sterilization
The cannula is made from German stainless steel with a passivated surface that resists corrosion and pitting through repeated cleaning cycles. It is reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C.
