Austin Micro Ear Dissectors
Austin micro ear dissectors are fine curved dissectors for separating and lifting tissue in the middle ear under the microscope.
The curved tip slides between tissue layers and lifts them apart without cutting. Surgeons use it to elevate the tympanomeatal flap, to separate cholesteatoma matrix from bone and ossicles, and to dissect in the attic.
The right and left curved versions are mirror images. Which one you need depends on the ear and on which side of a structure you are working, so they are normally bought as a pair.

Fisch Micro Ear Dissectors: Single and Double Curved
Fisch micro ear dissectors are fine dissectors with a curved working end for middle ear and cholesteatoma surgery.
The single curved dissector has one bend near the tip, for work just to the side of the line of view. The double curved dissector has two bends, which set the tip further to the side and behind structures while the shaft stays clear of the ear canal wall.
They are used to lift mucosa and cholesteatoma matrix, to free tissue around the ossicles, and to dissect in places a straight instrument cannot reach. Right and left versions are normally bought as pairs.

Preyer Sinus Tympani Dissectors
The Preyer sinus tympani dissector is made to reach into the sinus tympani, a small hidden recess deep in the middle ear where cholesteatoma is easily left behind.
Its curved tip turns into the recess, which lies out of the direct line of view, so diseased tissue can be lifted out of it. A 3mm circular marking on the working end gives the surgeon a size reference inside the recess. At 16.5cm it suits microscopic and endoscopic ear surgery.
Right and left curved versions are mirror images for the right and left ear, so they are normally bought as a pair.

Care and Sterilization
Dissector tips are fine and bend easily. Use them on soft tissue only, never to lever bone, and store each dissector with its tip in a tip guard. Check the tip under magnification at every cycle. Clean the instrument straight after use, before blood and tissue dry on the tip. Use a soft brush and an ultrasonic cleaner, rinse, and dry fully. Put a drop of instrument lubricant on the joint before sterilizing. Steam autoclave at up to 134°C in a tray with a silicone mat or tip guard, so the fine tip never knocks against other instruments. Check the tip under magnification at every cycle.
