Liposuction Cannulas and Accessories › Toledo V-Dissector Liposuction Cannulas
A V-Dissector Toledo cannula is a solid-shaft dissecting instrument with a blunt V-shaped working tip, used to open and establish tissue planes before liposuction or fat grafting. The V spreads tissue rather than cutting or aspirating it, so the plane is created deliberately and the passes that follow travel where intended. This category is part of the Healermed Liposuction Cannulas and Accessories range and covers 13 hub and handle fittings.

Toledo V-Dissector Liposuction Cannulas in German Stainless Steel
Most of a liposuction tray removes tissue. This instrument removes nothing. It exists to decide where the plane is before any cannula travels through it, which is a separate job and the reason it is passed first.
What the V-Dissector Tip Does
The Toledo V-dissector is not an aspiration cannula. The shaft is solid and carries no ports; the working end is formed into a blunt V, and the whole job of the instrument is to open a plane rather than remove anything through it.
The V works by spreading. As the instrument advances, the two arms separate tissue along the plane in front of them, pushing vessels, nerves and fibrous strands aside into the notch rather than dividing them. A round blunt tip pushes tissue ahead of itself and compresses it; a V splits it and travels between the halves, which is why the dissector passes through a plane that a plain cannula would have to force its way along.
Surgeons use it before the aspiration cannula and before grafting. Pre-tunnelling with a V-dissector establishes the plane the case will be worked in, so the passes that follow travel where they are meant to instead of finding their own route. In fat grafting it does the same job for the recipient site: the pocket is created deliberately, then filled.
Because there is no port and no sharpened edge, it neither aspirates nor divides. That is the argument for using it in planes where a sharpened dissector would be unacceptable, and it is equally the reason it will not release dense scar. For that, a sharpened dissector is the correct instrument and this one is not.

Clinical Applications
- Pre-tunnelling before aspiration to establish the working plane
- Creating the recipient pocket before fat grafting
- Superficial plane work where a sharpened dissector would be unsafe
- Body and facial dissection with the 2.0mm to 4.0mm diameters
How to Choose a Size
This is a plane-forming instrument, so size follows the area being opened rather than any removal rate. The 3.0mm to 4.0mm diameters in 25cm to 35cm cover most body pre-tunnelling across the abdomen, flanks and thighs. The 2.0mm to 2.5mm range in 15cm to 25cm suits arms, the neck and facial work. If the plane is held down by dense scar the V will not release it and a sharpened dissector is the correct instrument instead.
Material and Sterilization
The instrument is made from German stainless steel with a passivated surface that resists corrosion and pitting through repeated cleaning cycles. It is reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C. Clean immediately after use and dry fully before autoclaving. A solid shaft has no lumen to flush, which makes cleaning simpler, but the notch of the V traps tissue and is easy to skip. Brush inside the V and inspect it under light at every cycle, and sight along the arms to confirm neither has been bent, since a distorted V no longer spreads evenly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a toledo v-dissector liposuction cannula used for?
It is used to open and establish a tissue plane before liposuction or fat grafting. The blunt V-shaped tip spreads tissue apart as the instrument advances, pushing vessels, nerves and fibrous strands aside rather than dividing them, so the passes that follow travel in the plane the surgeon intended.
What is the difference between a V-dissector and a sharp cut dissector?
A V-dissector has a blunt V tip that spreads tissue apart along a plane, pushing vessels and strands aside without dividing them. A sharp cut dissector carries a sharpened edge and divides fibrous bands deliberately. The V is the safer instrument and will not release dense scar; the sharpened one will, and demands far more control.
Is this instrument autoclavable?
Yes. It is fully reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C. Clean immediately after use, remove all residue before sterilization, and dry completely.
Which size should I use?
The 3.0mm to 4.0mm diameters in 25cm to 35cm cover most body pre-tunnelling across the abdomen, flanks and thighs. Use 2.0mm to 2.5mm in 15cm to 25cm for arms, the neck and facial work. Size follows the area being opened rather than any removal rate, since this instrument aspirates nothing.
What is the minimum order quantity for bulk orders?
The minimum order quantity is agreed per order rather than set at a fixed number. Send us the sizes, fittings and quantities you need through the wholesale request page and we will confirm the minimum for that specification.
Do you provide samples?
Yes. Samples are available on request and the buyer covers the shipping charges. Tell us the diameter, length and fitting you want to evaluate and we will confirm what can be sent.
Can I order a custom size?
Yes. Custom diameters, working lengths and configurations are available on request in addition to the standard size grid. Send your specification through the wholesale request page and our production team will confirm what can be produced.
