What Instruments Are Used in Ear Surgery?
A standard otology tray covers five jobs: exploring (blunt hooks that test whether the ossicular chain moves), dissecting (sharp micro picks that separate tissue at 0.1mm scale), scraping (curettes that clear wax, granulation and diseased bone), cutting (myringotomy knives that open the eardrum), and elevating (raspatories and periosteal elevators that lift the tympanomeatal flap). Most ear procedures need at least one instrument from each group.

What Is the Difference Between Ear Surgery Instruments and ENT Instruments?
Ear surgery instruments — also called otology instruments — work only inside the ear. ENT instruments is the wider term: it includes ear instruments plus sinus curettes for the nose and circle knives for the larynx. If you run mixed ENT lists you will want all three groups; if you are a dedicated otologist, this page covers everything you need.
What Material Are Ear Surgery Instruments Made From?
All pieces are surgical-grade stainless steel with a satin finish to cut glare under the operating microscope. Handles are knurled so grip holds with wet gloves. Every instrument is single-ended, hand-finished and passivated for corrosion resistance.
Are Ear Surgery Instruments Reusable and Autoclavable?
Yes. All instruments are fully reusable and autoclavable at 134°C. Clean immediately after use, rinse with distilled water and dry fully before storage. Working tips on micro picks and hooks are 0.1–1.5mm and will bend under force, so store them in a slotted tray rather than loose in a box.
Should I Buy a Set or Single Instruments?
Buy singles if you are replacing one damaged piece or adding a size you use heavily — every instrument above has its own page and its own model number.
