Sterilization Storage Box for Liposuction Cannulas — 28 x 18 x 2.5cm

A cannula set is worth more than the tray that holds it, and it is the tray that decides how long the set stays usable.

Why Cannulas Need a Tray of Their Own

A liposuction cannula is a thin tube with a working edge at one end and a machined hub at the other, and both are easy to damage in places that never show until the instrument is in tissue.

Loose in a general instrument tray, cannulas roll, cross and press against heavier instruments. Shafts pick up bends too slight to see but enough to make a long cannula track off line. Port edges are nicked by contact with clamps and scissors, and a nicked edge tears fat rather than cutting it. Hub threads are dented by the same contact, and a dented thread leaks under vacuum. None of this announces itself: the instrument looks fine and behaves differently.

Holding each cannula separately solves it. Nothing touches anything else, so the only wear a cannula takes is from the tissue it works in and the sterilization it goes through.

There is a sterilization reason as well. Steam has to reach the inside of a lumen, and condensate has to drain out of it. Cannulas lying in a heap trap water against each other and against the tray floor; held apart with the lumens clear, steam penetrates and the load dries properly, which is what a successful cycle depends on.

Material and Sterilization

The box is made from German stainless steel and is fully reusable, steam autoclavable to 134°C. Load cannulas individually rather than stacking them, and leave the lumens clear so steam reaches the inside of each shaft and condensate drains out. Clean the box itself between cycles rather than only the instruments in it, since residue collects in the holders and at the perforations. Check the holders for spreading at each cycle: a holder that no longer grips lets a cannula move during handling, which is the contact the box exists to prevent.
