A Luer lock handle combining a thumb vent with a male Luer lock at the rear, so it connects directly to tubing or a syringe while keeping suction control at the hand. This handle does both jobs at once: it carries a vent under the thumb and terminates in a male Luer lock at the rear, so it connects straight into a Luer tubing set or a syringe without an adapter.
The rear connection is what makes it a complete link in the suction path rather than just a grip. Aspirate travels cannula, handle, tubing, in one sealed run with two Luer joints and nothing improvised in between. Fewer connections means fewer places to leak under vacuum and fewer places to come apart mid-pass.
The thumb vent then gives the same hand control as the vented handle: seal for full suction, lift to drop it instantly. Having both on one instrument is the reason surgeons choose this version, because the alternative is either giving up hand control or adding a separate vent piece into the line.
Two Luer joints and a vent mean three things to check before a case. All three want inspecting: a worn thread leaks, and a blocked vent removes the control.
A handle is the link between the surgeon's hand and the cannula, and it changes three things: grip, force direction and the suction path.
Grip first. A cannula hub is a narrow collar meant for connecting, not for holding. Gripping it means pinching a small diameter with wet gloves for hundreds of strokes, which tires the hand and lets the instrument turn when it should not. A handle gives a body sized for the palm, so grip pressure stays light and the cannula holds whatever orientation the surgeon set.
Force direction second. Held by the hub, force is applied around the shaft and the cannula wanders off line as resistance changes. Held by a handle, force runs along the axis, so the tip goes where the handle points and long passes stay straight for less effort.
Suction path third, and this is where the versions differ. A handle can be a plain grip, it can carry a vent under the thumb so the surgeon modulates vacuum at the hand, and it can terminate in a male Luer lock so it connects directly into the tubing or syringe. Those are not cosmetic options: they decide who controls the vacuum and how many joints sit in the line.

The handle is made from German stainless steel with a passivated surface that resists corrosion through repeated cleaning cycles. It is reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C. Flush the internal passage from both ends until the water runs clear, since aspirate passes through the handle as well as the cannula. Check the Luer thread for wear at every cycle: a worn thread leaks under vacuum, and a leak at the handle costs suction at the cannula where the surgeon cannot see it.

Why have both a thumb hole and a male Luer end?
The male Luer connects the handle directly into a tubing set or syringe, so the suction path runs cannula to handle to tubing with no adapter. The thumb vent keeps vacuum control at the hand. Without both on one handle you either lose hand control or add a separate vent piece into the line.
Does this fit any liposuction cannula?
It takes any cannula with a Luer lock hub, which covers the Luer lock, stainless steel Luer lock and universal Luer lock fittings across our range. Cannulas made with a threaded fitting, a Toomey hub or a machine-specific hub do not use a handle of this type.
