Stainless Steel Handle for Threaded Hub Cannulas for Liposuction Cannulas

This handle takes threaded hub cannulas. The front is a machined female screw thread rather than a Luer lock, and the cannula screws down until it seats metal to metal against the handle face.

That seating is the reason threaded systems exist. A Luer lock holds by a quarter-turn collar and always retains a small amount of rotational play; a screw thread draws the two parts together along their whole engagement, so the cannula and handle behave as one rigid piece. Nothing at the joint shifts during a pass.

It matters most on directional cannulas. Where the openings face one side, the surgeon aims them by rotating the handle, and the tip only stays where it was pointed if the joint cannot turn. On a Luer joint a firm pass can work the cannula a few degrees out of position without the surgeon noticing until the plane is wrong.

The thread is the part that wears. Cross-threading damages both the handle and every cannula screwed into it afterwards, so it wants starting square and finger-tight before any force is applied.

What a Liposuction Cannula Handle Does

A handle is the link between the surgeon's hand and the cannula, and it changes three things: grip, force direction and the suction path.

Grip first. A cannula hub is a narrow collar meant for connecting, not for holding. Gripping it means pinching a small diameter with wet gloves for hundreds of strokes, which tires the hand and lets the instrument turn when it should not. A handle gives a body sized for the palm, so grip pressure stays light and the cannula holds whatever orientation the surgeon set.

Force direction second. Held by the hub, force is applied around the shaft and the cannula wanders off line as resistance changes. Held by a handle, force runs along the axis, so the tip goes where the handle points and long passes stay straight for less effort.

Suction path third, and this is where the versions differ. A handle can be a plain grip, it can carry a vent under the thumb so the surgeon modulates vacuum at the hand, and it can terminate in a male Luer lock so it connects directly into the tubing or syringe. Those are not cosmetic options: they decide who controls the vacuum and how many joints sit in the line.

Material and Sterilization

The handle is made from German stainless steel with a passivated surface that resists corrosion through repeated cleaning cycles. It is reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C. Flush the internal passage from both ends until the water runs clear, since aspirate passes through the handle as well as the cannula. Check the Luer thread for wear at every cycle: a worn thread leaks under vacuum, and a leak at the handle costs suction at the cannula where the surgeon cannot see it.
