Liposuction Cannulas and Accessories › Liposuction Trocar 3.0mm – Square Handle
The Liposuction Trocar 3.0mm with Square Handle is a percutaneous punch used to make the access incision before infiltration and tissue extraction. It cuts a clean circumferential opening sized to a 3.0mm cannula, maintaining a tight seal around the shaft and minimising scarring at the access site. It is part of the Healermed liposuction cannulas and accessories range.

The square handle gives the hand something definite to push against. Four flat faces mean the fingers find the same purchase every time, so force applied to the skin is repeatable rather than varying with how the instrument happened to sit in the palm.
That matters through fibrous or thickened skin, where a punch needs real pressure as well as rotation. A round body can slip in a wet glove under that load; flat faces do not, so the surgeon can press and turn without gripping harder than the task needs.
The faces also index the rotation. Turning face to face gives a defined quarter turn each time, which some surgeons prefer for judging how far the rim has cut rather than working by feel alone.
A practical benefit outside the incision: a square handle does not roll off a tray or a drape, which on an instrument with an exposed circular cutting rim is worth having.
A trocar is a percutaneous punch. It makes the access incision the rest of the case runs through, cutting a clean circumferential opening in the skin before infiltration and before any cannula is passed.
The reason to punch rather than cut with a blade is the shape of the hole. A scalpel makes a slit, which gapes open as a cannula works through it and stretches unevenly with every pass. A circular punch removes a disc of tissue the same diameter as the cannula, so the opening matches what goes through it and the edges are supported all the way around.
That is what gives the seal. With the incision sized to the cannula, tumescent fluid and aspirate stay in the tissue instead of leaking back out around the shaft, which keeps the field clearer and the infiltrated volume where the surgeon put it. A gaping slit loses both.
It also decides the scar. A round opening of matched diameter contracts evenly as it heals, where a slit that has been stretched and worried by hours of cannula passes heals as a wider, more irregular mark. On a case with several access sites, that difference is the visible part of the result the patient keeps.

The trocar is made from German stainless steel with a passivated surface that resists corrosion through repeated cleaning cycles. It is reusable and can be steam autoclaved at 134°C. Clean immediately after use and dry fully before autoclaving. Inspect the cutting rim under magnification at every cycle: the whole instrument depends on a continuous sharp circular edge, and a nicked or dulled rim tears skin instead of punching it, which produces exactly the irregular scar the trocar exists to avoid.

What is a liposuction trocar used for?
It is a percutaneous punch used to make the access incision before infiltration and tissue extraction. It removes a disc of skin sized to the cannula, so the opening matches the shaft, fluid and aspirate do not leak back around it, and the site heals as a small round scar rather than a stretched slit.
Why choose the square handle over the round?
Flat faces give the fingers the same purchase every time, so pressure is repeatable and the grip holds in a wet glove under the load a fibrous skin punch needs. The faces also index the rotation in quarter turns, and the handle will not roll off a tray. Choose the round handle for a continuous rolling punch action.
Why punch the incision instead of cutting it with a blade?
A blade makes a slit, which gapes as the cannula works through it and stretches unevenly with every pass. A punch removes a circular disc matched to the cannula diameter, so the edges are supported all the way around. That is what holds the seal during infiltration and what gives the more regular scar.
Is it autoclavable?
Yes. It is fully reusable and steam autoclavable to 134°C. Inspect the cutting rim under magnification at each cycle, since a dulled or nicked rim tears skin instead of punching it.
Do you make other punch diameters?
Yes. Other punch diameters are available on request so the incision can be matched to the cannula being used. Send your specification through the wholesale request page and our production team will confirm what can be produced.
What is the minimum order quantity for bulk orders?
The minimum order quantity is agreed per order rather than set at a fixed number. Send us the diameters, handle types and quantities you need through the wholesale request page and we will confirm the minimum for that specification.
