Hub material decides how long a reusable injector stays usable. Anodized aluminium hubs are lighter and cheaper, but the coating fades and the thread can gall after repeated steam cycles. A solid stainless steel hub keeps its thread form far longer, which matters on an instrument that is screwed on and off a syringe many times in a single grafting case.
The working end is formed into a shallow scoop rather than finished as a plain closed nose, and the opening sits inside that scoop. The result is a tip that both parts tissue and directs where the graft goes as it withdraws.
The concave face is the feature. It presents a broader, flatter leading surface than a round nose, so the cannula slides along a plane rather than pushing into it, which is useful immediately under the skin where a round tip tends to dive or tent the surface. The surgeon keeps a shallow plane more easily.
The scoop also aims the delivery. Graft leaves into the hollow of the spoon and is directed to that side, so rotating the shaft places fat toward the skin or away from it with more definition than a plain side opening gives.
The trade is that a formed tip is a shaped surface. If the spoon is bent or flattened it stops holding a plane and stops directing the graft, and on a fine cannula that damage is easy to cause and impossible to correct.
An injector cannula is the delivery end of a fat transfer. The syringe supplies the pressure, but where the graft ends up, and in what form, is decided by the cannula: its diameter, its opening, and the way the surgeon moves it.
Placement is done in retrograde. The cannula is advanced through the recipient plane, and fat is laid down as it is withdrawn, so the graft fills the tunnel the cannula has just made rather than being forced into tissue ahead of it. Each pass deposits a thread of fat. A result is built from many of those threads, crossed and layered, not from a few large boluses.
That is why the opening matters. Its size sets the diameter of the thread laid down; its position sets which way the fat is directed as the cannula withdraws; and its edge decides whether the parcel passes cleanly or is sheared at the exit. A wider opening places more per pass and fills faster; a smaller one places less and gives finer control in thin tissue where the graft can be seen through the skin.
Diameter and length work with it. A narrower cannula makes a smaller tunnel and allows finer layering, but it also raises injection pressure for the same fat, so the surgeon pushes harder. A longer shaft covers more of the recipient area from one entry point, which means fewer punctures. Matching all of this to the graft volume and the recipient site is the whole skill of the instrument choice.

Flush the lumen and the opening with clean water immediately after use and dry fully before autoclaving. A deformed spoon no longer holds a plane or directs the graft, and cannot be corrected on a reusable instrument.
