Nano Fat Transfer Set – Short Pattern in German Stainless Steel

The short pattern has a compact body, so the channel the fat passes through is shorter than on the long version.

Less channel means less resistance. The plunger moves with noticeably less force, which matters when the preparation is done by hand over many passes and when the volume is small enough that pass count was never the constraint. For a few millilitres of periorbital or perioral nanofat, the short pattern reaches the same emulsion without the effort.

The compact body is also easier to handle on a crowded table and simpler to dismantle and clean, since there is less internal channel for emulsified fat to sit in.

Where the harvest is large, the long pattern will get there in fewer passes. For small and moderate volumes the short pattern is the more comfortable instrument.

How Nano Fat Transfer Works

Nanofat is not a different tissue from the fat that was harvested. It is the same aspirate put through a mechanical process that breaks the fat parcels down until what remains will pass through a very fine cannula.

The process is emulsification by shear. Harvested fat is loaded into a syringe, connected to a second syringe through the transfer device, and pushed back and forth. Each pass forces the tissue through a narrow channel, and the mechanical shear breaks the parcels progressively smaller. After enough passes the aspirate changes visibly, from a lumpy yellow graft to a smooth emulsion.

Filtration then sets what actually gets injected. The emulsified fat is passed through a mesh, and the mesh size decides the largest particle that can get through. That matters because the injection cannula is the real limit: a particle wider than the lumen blocks it, and a blocked fine cannula in the middle of a periorbital case is a problem. Filtering to a known size means the surgeon knows what will pass.

The point of all of it is where the graft can go. Standard fat parcels are too large for the dermal and subdermal planes; nanofat passes through cannulas fine enough to treat them, which is why it is used for skin quality, fine lines, scars, and the thin tissue around the eyes and mouth where conventional grafting cannot be placed.

What Is Included

Each set is supplied complete and ready to use:

3 mesh filters — 0.3mm, 0.5mm and 0.7mm
Three filtration grades so the surgeon matches the particle size to the injection cannula and the plane being treated. The 0.7mm mesh suits subdermal placement through finer cannulas; 0.5mm is the general nanofat grade; 0.3mm produces the finest emulsion for intradermal work and the thinnest periorbital tissue.
2 gas rings
Sealing rings for the assembly. They hold the joint tight while fat is driven back and forth under pressure, so the emulsion goes through the channel rather than escaping at the seam. Two are supplied so one is in use and one is a spare, since a compressed or perished ring is the usual cause of a leaking transfer set.

The transfer set is made from German stainless steel and is fully reusable, steam autoclavable to 134°C. Dismantle it completely after every case and flush each part before any residue sets, since emulsified fat dries into the mesh and the internal channel far faster than whole parcels do. Hold each mesh filter to the light and check it is clear across its whole area: a partly blocked mesh raises the pressure the surgeon works against and quietly changes the particle size that gets through. Inspect the gas rings for compression or splitting at every cycle and replace rather than reuse a ring that has flattened.
